The work

Affordable housing is all we do.

Every project is a 4% LIHTC acquisition-rehab: an existing building, a real budget, a housing agency, and families who need safe housing.

You read a state's QAP before anyone commits a number. You walk a 200-unit property (example) and price what you find. You sequence the scope to keep construction organized, efficient, and manageable. Fair Housing, ADA, Section 504, HUD. Licensed in 24 states and counting.

Teams are small. Every person is on the project from the site walk to closeout.

How we work

Remote. Flexible. Sustainable.

Where you work and when you work are yours to set, within reason. The project rhythm is known, so you can plan a life around it.

  • Where you work

    Remote, and we mean it.

Live where you live. We've operated remote since 2019, across 24 states — it's how the firm is built, not a perk we're trying out.

  • When you work

    Flexible schedules, real holidays.

Set your hours around your life. Paid holidays and paid time off are separate, and we expect you to use both. Paid maternity and paternity leave when your family grows.

  • How the work lands

    Small teams, clear scope.

QAP study, site visit, assessment and scope of work, bid table. Most projects reach the table in six to nine months, so you know what is coming and when.

We hire specialists.

If you've built a career in LIHTC rehab, this page was written for you.

  • Senior Project Architect / Project Manager — LIHTC Rehab

Full time Remote or in office Licensed architect

Run LIHTC rehabilitation projects end to end: existing-conditions verification, QAP and agency coordination, scope development, construction documents, code and accessibility review, and construction administration. You carry the developer relationship and your judgment drives the work. We're looking for deep multi-family rehab experience — the kind where you've read enough QAPs to know what's changed year over year, and you've closed out enough projects to know where the scope goes sideways. Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and similar design software is expected.

    Introduce yourself anyway

We are growing into new states every year, and the people we most want to meet are usually not job-hunting. If you've spent years in tax-credit rehab and want to know what the next stage of this firm looks like, a thirty-minute conversation costs nothing. No portfolio required for initial meeting or call.

In their words

Ask the people already here.

  • “What I love about LIHTC rehabilitation work is that it is never just about drawings or deadlines — it is about helping preserve homes that families depend on. Over the years, I have learned how much this work benefits from close attention, honest communication, and a team that stays involved from the first walk-through to the final inspection. That is why I came to work at True Craft: to stay closer to the people, the properties, and the purpose behind every affordable housing project.”

  • “What makes True Craft special is the people. We are a diverse, close-knit team that feels more like a family than a workplace — supportive, collaborative, and genuinely invested in each other’s growth. Everyone brings a different perspective, but we share the same purpose: doing meaningful work, taking care of one another and our clients, and helping create homes that matter.”
Vaishali Shah Vaishali ShahChief Executive Officer
  • “As an associate, I value the mentorship and guidance I receive from the True Craft team every day. LIHTC rehabilitation is complex work, and learning alongside experienced architects helps me understand the details, ask better questions, and grow with purpose while contributing to homes and communities worth preserving.”

Architecture with heart

Small enough to know everyone.

We are a small, collaborative, diverse team, and we run on trust. People here manage their own work, in the studio or a thousand miles from it, and back each other up when a project gets busy.

Our work is grounded in a simple belief: everyone deserves affordable, reliable, livable housing. That purpose shapes the projects we take on and the way we work together.
